Next Meeting
The next meeting will be on Feb. 9, 2011 in Luling, La. We are working on holding the March 9th meeting at the Wetland Watchers Park with a guest speaker. We are working on holding the June 1st meeting as well as a tour at Mr. Theriot’s daylily gardens.

ARC
Mike reports the tomatoes are growing wonderfully. They are tall, there are already a lot of good sized tomatoes, and the plants are growing thick into the isle.

Destrehan Plantation
Jerry reported the freeze killed the peppers. There is still cabbage. The whole garden needs fertilizer. Tomatoes will be started from seed. He will bring some to the March meeting for us to grow for ourselves. Heritage Day is May 4 for children in 4th – 8th grade, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Those who signed up are Rose Marie Perilloux, Jerry Hummel, Bobbie Zaidain, Carol Skipper, and Charlene Troxler. By this day the tomatoes should be growing pretty and there should be plenty radishes.

Farmers’ Market
Carol Skipper represented the Master Gardeners at the Dec. and Jan. markets. Signed up for the Feb. 5th market are: Shirley Hopper, Nikki Morlas, Rene’ Schmit and Shirley Gautreaux.

Oak Alley
We will have an information booth again at the Oak Alley Spring Festival. It is March 26th and 27th. Those who signed up are Bobbie Zaidain and Carol Skipper for the a.m. of March 26th, and Linda Boudreaux and Mike Humphreys for the a.m. of March 27th. More helpers are needed.

San Francisco

  • The spring festival is on March 12th and 13th. Discussion about our plant sale at the festival and the plant sale we usually have in May ran into each other. Motion was made to have our sale the week after San Francisco sale and in LaPlace at Gold Eagle Security at 1956 Carollwood in LaPlace. Motion passed.
