Our gathering place for this meeting was at the Wetland Watcher’s Park in the spillway. We had a very informative history of the area along with the status of present projects and hopes for the future. We took a walk where we could see the progress of attempts to bring the area back like it was years ago with plantings of native grasses, flowers and trees. Thank you to Milton Cambre for the knowledge you shared and your years of work, progress and successes!
Next Meeting
May 11 at 10:00 a.m. in Luling.

Twin Oaks
Shirley G. said recently fertilized with 13/13/10 and all is looking good.
San Francisco Plantation
Lorraine has been getting lots of help from her guardian angel or maybe a gardening angel. The workers and tourists are impressed and often ask the Master Gardeners about the grounds.
Lorraine will request soaker hoses (for the sides of the walkway) from the Plantation management.
Sandy requested volunteers just to answer questions for San Francisco’s Back-in-Time Days when fourth-graders from St. John will visit. This is scheduled for April 19, 20 and 21 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
ARC
The tomato plants are still producing and the plants are growing crazy. Jerry and Mike will go trellis them so they can continue producing even more tomatoes. Please call one of them if you could help.
There are other ARCs inquiring about the tomato project including one in St. James that raises poinsettias and is looking to expand their efforts with tomatoes.
Destrehan Plantation
Jerry and Shirley H. report the beds are all planted and looking good with limas, peppers and tomatoes. Also, radishes which will be just right for Heritage Day. To fill in an empty bed there is a variety of herbs, flowers, lilies, sugar cane and pumpkins.
