2008 Louisiana Soybean and Grain Report
This eight-page tabloid-style report includes 14 articles about the latest in research and extension programs of the LSU AgCenter funded in part through the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Articles include the comeback of wheat production in the state, the multi-disciplinary approach to the “green bean syndrome” in soybeans, new methods for soil tests and the latest on Asian soybean rust.

The Lousiana Hay and Feed Supplier Directory has been developed as a tool for farmers and ranchers to do two things: 1.) promote the availability of hay and feed sources to surrounding areas and people in need; 2.) find available sources should you need hay or feed in case of drought or other reason that would limit resouces.

Rice planting window opens, new insecticide ready for weevil
(Distributed 03/11/08) CROWLEY – In general, fairly early planting of rice is desirable for maximizing yield and quality, as well as increasing the potential for a successful second crop in the southern part of the state. Sometimes, however, planting can be too early. Here on the Rice Research Station, we planted our first rice of 2008 on Feb. 29.

2008 Projected Louisiana Rice Production Costs
This report presents estimates of production costs for rice production in Louisiana for the 2008 crop year. Costs estimates are included for typical rice production systems, including conventional tillage, stale seedbed, production in rotation and fallow, as well as production of conventional and herbicide-resistant varieties. Production cost estimates are also included for soybeans, wheat and sorghum in Southwest Louisiana.
