The Great 4-H Alumni Search

This year celebrates the 100th Birthday of Louisiana's 4-H Youth Development Program. History continues today in Red River Parish through very active 4-H clubs, projects and programs. According to LSU AgCenter agents in Red River Parish, Cindy Smith and David Yount, Jr., numerous fun and exciting events are planned throughout this year to help celebrate our Happy 4-H Birthday!

The Great 4-H Alumni Search is on! As part of our celebration, we are searching for 4-H Alumni especially those living in Red River Parish. If you have participated in some type of 4-H program, we would like to hear from you. We especially would like to honor the oldest living 4-H alumni in Red River Parish.

Nationally, over 45 million people are 4-H Alumni. Are you one of these people? You can spread the word about the Great 4-H Alumni Search by telling a friend or family member. They can call the 4-H Office at 318-932-4342 to request a 4-H Alumni Information Form or log on to our web site, www.lsuagcenter.com. (go to parish offices and click on Red River), and print off the form. You may return the forms to the 4-H office located on the second floor of the building behind the courthouse or by mailing to LSU AgCenter, P. O. Box 1364, Coushatta, LA 71019.

We are also searching for 4-H Stories and Photos... Do you remember saying the 4-H pledge, attending 4-H Summer Camp, giving demonstrations at 4-H U (Short Course) or showing an animal at the State Fair? Anyone who has ever been to a 4-H Achievement Day, on an award trip or a 4-H camp all have something in common—they all have a story to tell or a photo to share and for the 100th year celebration of Louisiana 4-H, we want to hear them! We're asking for you - members, leaders, chaperones, parents - to share your 4-H anecdotes, stories and photos with us. Your stories and photos can be pertaining to any of the following four categories: Hysterical - remember when you laughed so hard you couldn't breathe - exactly what we’re looking for; Historical - ask your parents, your grandparents, your neighbors - there is a long lineage of 4-H participants in some families; Heart - warming - melt-in-your-hand sort of mush stories; and Huh? - ever have one of those events where nothing goes right and yet, it's one of the greatest days? Perfect, we'd love to hear about your crazy adventures.

For more information or to contact the local Extension Service, call 318-932-4342 or visit the office at 2015 Red Oak Road (building behind the courthouse).
