Red River Parish 4-H'ers Jenna Nelson and Kaitlin Youngblood joined the KSLA Stormtracker 12 Road Tour at Minden High School on Thursday, April 17. Both girls are students at the United Community Christian Academy. Jenna and Kaitlin helped man the LSU AgCenter booth to promote 4-H and celebrate the 100th anniversary of 4-H in Louisiana.

KSLA Channel 12 Meteorologists Ed Duranczyk and Ron Young and Chief Meteorologist Stephen Parr were on hand signing autographs and teaching about the weather. Stephen gave a presentation on the different types of weather we see in the Ark-La-Tex. He also answered questions from the audience.

Kids at the event got to see how the KSLA Stormtracker 12 meteorologists actually put the weather on the air using a “green screen.” They also had the chance to step in front of the camera and experience using the “green screen” themselves.

Joining KSLA News 12 at the event were the National Weather Service, Sci-Port Discovery Center, Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Northwestern State University, Bossier Parish Community College, the National Guard, Life Share Blood Center, NW Louisiana Red Cross and Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Louisiana State Police and the LSU AgCenter.
