Red River Parish 4-H’ers attended the ultimate camping trip!
The fourth annual Camp Roughin’ It was held April 3-5, 2008, at Gum Springs National Park in Winnfield, LA. This camp educates 4-H’ers on ways to develop, manage, and further utilize natural resources (forestry, aquatics and wildlife) in a fashion which will insure a healthy and clean environment for years to come. The 4-H’ers slept in tents and cooked their own food. They learned about forestry, hunting, camp set-up, outdoor cooking, wildlife, archery, canoeing, fishing and much, much more!!!
Due to bad weather, the campers returned home Friday afternoon. Plans are being made to offer a day camp to these 4-H’ers to make up for the lost day.
Enjoying an memorable experience at Camp Roughin’ It were 16 Red River Parish 4-H’ers: Joshua Adams, Baylie Anderson, Kade Anderson, Natalie Anderson, Michael Arnold, Rayshun Brisker, Hunter Brown, Eric Eaton, Kirsten Eaton, Karley Giddens, Dustin Horton, Yancy LeGrande, Cory Maxwell, Jr., Tyler McCartney, Chimera Stewart and Natalie Webb.
Also attending were 4-H Jr. Leaders serving as counselors: Chase Crower and Alicia Walsworth; volunteer Nancy Nettles, and Red River Parish agents: Cindy Smith, Associate Extension Agent and David Yount, Jr., Assistant County Agent.
