Images from Groundbreaking and Dedication Ceremonies
Govenor Kathleen Blanco, Dr. Bill Richardson, and other AgCenter officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Louisiana Emergency Shelter at the Dean Lee Research Station on August 15, 2007. The $26 million climate-controlled shelter is being built to provide a place for citizens without transportation ("special needs") seeking refuge during emergencies such as hurricanes and other disasters.
The grand opening and dedication of the new livestock show/sale facility located at the Dean Lee Research/Extension Center on Highway 71 South near LSUA was held on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the complex. The facility was named in memory of C. Woodrow DeWitt, Sr., the father of State Representative Charlie DeWitt. Representative DeWitt lead the effort to secure the funding for building this facility that will benefit all of Central Louisiana.
