2012 Central District Livestock Show
The LSU AgCenter Central District Livestock Show was held February 2-4, 2012, at the Dewitt Livestock Show Facility located on the Dean Lee Research Station in Alexandria, La. 4-H and FFA members from seven parishes participated in the event. The parishes included Avoyelles, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon and Winn Parishes.
The 4-H'ers and Ag students exhibited more than 900 animals in the judging competition. Many of the livestock exhibitors will be participating in the state livestock show held February 11-18, 2012, at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana.
The livestock project is a great learning experience for the participants. The exhibitors learn to accept responsibility to care for their animals and get them ready for the show. The livestock project also requires support from parents and other family members to be successful. Volunteers are also a vital part of the 4-H livestock shows and many thanks goes out to them.
