Over 60 4-H members participated in the hands-on activities and were helped by the parish 4-H Teen Leader and Teens In Action club members.
The workshops included:
1. Holiday Fun Workshop- - -the sights and sounds of the holiday season were off to a good start in the 4-H Holiday Fun class where 4-H youth worked on Thanksgiving table decorations and Christmas gift trimmings. The Six Pillars of Character were on display as members made Christmas cards for residents of a local nursing home as well as seasonal gifts to share with family and friends.
2. “Kid Chef” Workshop- - -4-H’ers were “tuned into Food & Fitness” at the annual chef class where they made a variety of fun treats including spiced cocoa, pecan brittle, and holiday fudge. 4-H’ers were tested on their ability to select the proper measuring equipment as well as their understanding of food safety practices. The final result, of course, was the enjoyment of all the delicious treats made in the class! 3. Electric Workshop- - -circuits, watts and volts were among the new terms learned by 4-H’ers in attendance at the 4-H Electric Workshop. Members were able to construct a desk lamp using an empty soft drink bottle and a wooden base which they painted to match their own décor. 4-H’ers were amazed when each lamp was tested and they all lit up!
