Taking photos of people while emphasizing good color and composition was what members of the 4-H “1, 2, 3 Snap” Club learned last month. On Thursday, December 6, members of the 4-H Snap Club met for their monthly project club meeting to review their December assignment of photos of people and learn more about photography from Mr. David Breidenbach, Snap Club Leader.
Once the members signed in, they displayed their people photos and were divided into teams by color dots. The club was divided into four color dot groups for a team challenge. Mr. David led the challenge and encouraged the teams to work together to come up with the correct term that matched the photography definition he showed on a large screen. After an intense yet fun team challenge, the Yellow Team of William Jewell, Kellie Mounger, Devin Barnett, Hailey Thibodeaux, Hannah Dixon, Molly Cline, and Blake LeBlanc surfaced as champions after Team Challenge. Mrs. Layne Langley, 4-H Agent, awarded the 4-H’ers Team Challenge prizes.
Mr. David then reviewed the December photo assignment of photographing people while emphasizing good color and composition. He also shared with the club “What Makes a 'Good' picture” – light exposure, focus, main subject, composition, alignment, and that it creates some feelings. Mr. David also taught the club “Three Important Parts of a 'Good' picture”. During the snack break, the 4-H’ers had opportunity to vote for their Top 3 favorites based on the information Mr. David taught them. An attendance prize was also awarded.
Next on the agenda was discussing and critiquing the Top 3 photos that were voted on by the Snap Club members. Following the discussion came photography pointers by Mr. David. He provided camera tips, composition tips, and information on the Rule of 3rds.
