4-H Motto

4-H in Plaquemines Parish.....

is a part of a local, state, national and international youth
program.  It is one of the largest youth organizations in the United
States.  Our parish has approximately 700 members and 21
organizational club leaders and over 100 4-H volunteers.

4-H agents develop and execute educational programs and
activities that provide youth the opportunity to develop life skills
such as self esteem, community and citizen responsibility,
decision making, organization and social interaction.  They are
assisted in this goal by staff members of the Louisiana State
University Agricultural Center, and both parish and state LSU
AgCenter Extension Offices.  School leaders, volunteer parents
and other lay leaders, who share their time and talents in service
to this youth organization in Plaquemines Parish, are a very
fundamental element in the success of 4-H in Plaquemines
    Parish.

The 4-H Slogan, "Learn By Doing", is accomplished through
project club work, community service learning projects, contests,
workshops, leadership development, club activities, enrichment
programs, educational programs, camps and monthly meetings.

4-H Motto, Colors, Slogan.....

4-H Pledge.....

    I Pledge.....
    My head to clearer thinking,
    My heart to greater loyalty,
    My hands to larger service,
    My health to better living,
    For my club, my community
    my country, and my world.

4-H Creed.....

I believe in 4-h work for the opportunity it will give me to become a
    useful citizen.

I believe in training of my HEAD for the power it will give me to
think, to plan and to reason.

I believe in the training of my HEART for the nobleness it will give
me to become kind, sympathetic, and true.

I believe in the training of my HANDS for the dignity it will give me
to be helpful, useful and skillful.

I believe in the training of my HEALTH for the strength it will give
me to enjoy life, to resist disease and to work efficiently.

I believe in my World, my Country, my State and my Community
and in my responsibility for their development.

In all these things I believe, and I am willing to dedicate my efforts
    to their fulfillment.
