Gwen Fontenot, FCS Extension Agent, welcomed and introduced ALC members. She also conducted a power point presentation on the 2007-08 board recommendations and accomplishments. She also gave the council a report on her contacts made, days of work reported and professional goals for the upcoming year. A brainstorming session was held in which members discussed current programming, future agency collaboration and the community needs currently not being met. Board members were also asked to make recommendations for future advisory council members.

The following is a list of the programming efforts that need expanding or improvement:

• Provide diabetes education to diabetes support groups. Consider collaborating with local physicians and Causey’s Pharmacy.
• Provide financial management information to Head Start parent groups.
• Work with Council on Aging to develop food preparation classes using commodities.
• Implement a children’s nutrition corner at the Office of Family Support.
