The Natchitoches Parish Agriculture Day took place on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Events Center. Ag Day was sponsored by the Natchitoches Parish Farm Bureau, LSU AgCenter and the Events Center.
The LSU AgCenter and Natchitoches parish 4-H promoted our parish’s agriculture through a Mini Farm. The farm included geese, turkeys, sheep, a hog, rabbits, ducks, goats, a beef calf and chickens. The animals were provided by Marlan (June Bug) Anderson, Jonathan Miller, Luke Wilkerson, Hannah Cunningham and Seth Welch.
The Body Walk, an excellent way to promote healthy lifestyles, was also on hand. It consisted of a 35-foot by 45-foot enclosed walk-through exhibit representing the human body. Visitors were given a take-home activity book for students to read with their families and a list of additional nutrition education resources. The Body Walk could not have been possible without the help of the many volunteers that came and worked in the stations:
