A continuation of the total remake of the successful 4-H Mini Farm is planned for April 21-27, 2009, at the John M. Parker Coliseum. The event is called AgMagic. This is an opportunity for individuals, families and schools to experience the benefits of real-world agriculture.

This summer a group of 4-H’ers sat around dreaming and planning for a state wide service-learning project. We wanted a project that could have some effect on every mile of the state; as far north as Shreveport, and as far south as New Orleans. Many great ideas were thrown out on the table but we decided to go green! After all, 4-H is the Original Green!

(Distributed 10/31/08) They celebrated and educated at the 2008 State Fair of Louisiana 4-H Fun Day Oct. 29. Featured activities included the 4-H Express, the Ark-La-Tex Ag Council Junior Livestock Sale, the launch of a new children’s Web site, a Platoon Patrol skit for pre-schoolers and a Louisiana 4-H Foundation drawing for $10,000.

4-H has been around for more than 100 years in Louisiana. As part of the Centennial Celebration of Louisiana 4-H, the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated and included members from Lafayette Parish.
