| 2008 Jefferson Parish Commodity Cookery Contest Winners. |
Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie was the setting for the annual Jefferson Parish 4-H Commodity Cookery and Ambassador Contests held on Saturday, February 9th. Blue Award Winners from throughout Jefferson Parish brought their prize-winning dishes to tempt the palates of the judges. Ambassador participants presented short informational presentations on their selected commodity of egg, seafood, poultry, beef, or sugar.
Cookery Contest Medal Winners included:
Egg Cookery: Appetizer/Salad, Matthew Victoriano, Kerner Elementary; Dessert, Miranda Funck, Key Home School Club; Main Dish, Kavon Faili, West Bank Teen Leaders Club.
Beef Cookery: Low Calorie Main Dish, Dianne Ottallah, Roosevelt Middle; One Dish Meal, Rebekah Rine, Birney Elementary.
Poultry Cookery: Chicken, Jonathan Jones, Key Home School Club; Other Poultry Meats, Gabrielle Olivier, Key Home School Club; Processed Poultry, Daniel Gau

These 4-H members will represent Jefferson Parish in District Competition in April.

All Ambassador Winners (with the exception of Sugar Illustrated Talk) will represent Jefferson Parish in State Competition later in the year. Sugar Illustrated Talk competition ends at the parish level.
