Jefferson 4-H Members Attend Annual Challenge Camp
Seven Jefferson Parish 4-H members enjoyed three fun-filled days at the annual Challenge Camp held at Tickfaw State Park in Springfield, La. 4-H members from 11 parishes enjoyed the beautiful outdoor setting while learning about environmental education and healthy living choices and participating in numerous challenge and teambuilding activities.

Jefferson 4-H Club Members Display Container Gardens at Fall Garden Show
4-H Club Members designed container gardens in an effort to enchace the appearance of their school entrances, classroom windows, home living rooms or porches. 1st place club winners were on display at the Fall Garden Show held in October at City Park in New Orleans.

2010 4-H Game Night With The New Orleans Hornets
The New Orleans Hornets organization has dedicated their February 19, 2010 game with the Indiana Pacers as 4-H Game Night in the New Orleans Arena. 4-H'ers will have the opportunities to participate in special game night activities.

Parish Officers and Leaders Attend 2009 Regional Training
The 2009 4-H Officer/Leader Training was held on Saturday, October 24. Fifty-nine club officers and leaders from Jefferson Parish joined participants from Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John, and Plaquemines parishes for the annual event.

Jefferson Parish Members Attend 4-H Camp
Thirty-one Jefferson Parish 4-H members joined members from Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, West Carroll, Morehouse, Tensas, and Lincoln parishes for an exciting week of good times and good friends at this summer's 4-H Camp. The weeklong camp was held at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, La. Campers enjoyed educational tracks along with many recreational activities.

Jefferson Youth Attend 4-H Day at the Capitol
Seven Jefferson Parish 4-H members and three volunteer leaders visited the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge in June for “4-H Day at the Capitol.”

Jefferson Teens Attend 2009 4-H University
Sixteen Jefferson Parish 4-H teens participated in the 95th annual 4-H University held in June on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. More than 1,600 4-H members from across Louisiana spent several days in Baton Rouge participating in state level competition or receiving intensive training in selected subject areas, such as robotics, forensics, and dramatic arts.

Twelve Jefferson Parish 4-H members were named winners at the recent District 4-H Commodity Cookery Contest held at Southland Mall in Houma.

4-H Summer Camp Announced
How would you like to spend a fun-filled week playing soft-ball, basketball, badminton, and volleyball? Maybe you would enjoy swimming in an Olympic-sized pool, canoeing, making handicrafts, and learning to shoot a bow and arrow. Jefferson Parish will be camping June 15-19, 2009.

Jefferson 4-H’ers had “Fun with Food” at Kids Expo
Teen leaders had “Fun with Food” at Congressman Steve Scalise’s Kids Expo held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Muss Bertolino Gym in Kenner, Louisiana. The exhibit gave kids an opportunity to make a healthy snack with graham crackers, peanut butter, strawberry and grape jelly, shredded cheese, raisins, marshmallows, and cheerios.

39 Jefferson Parish 4-H members competed in the Annual Commodity Cookery and Ambassador Illustrated Talk Contests held February 28, 2009 at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, Louisiana.
