4-H'ers Attend Area Cookery

Jeff Davis 4-H'ers participated in the Southwest Area Cookery Contest on March 25th, 2009 in Jennings, LA. 4-H'ers entered their winning recipes from the parish contest which was held in November at Fall Contest Day. 4-H'ers competed against youth from nine other parishes in the Southwest Area. During the contest, youth attended educational programs on nutrition. Programs were on “ Food Ball” and “Moo Butter” .

Jeff Davis 4-H'ers represented our parish well at this area contest. Results from the event were: Seafood Division: Oyster-Maggie Mott-3rd Place, Crab-Jon David Meyer-Red Ribbon, Shrimp-Peyton Stanford-3rd Place, Fish & Other-Sarah Ardoin-3rd and Crawfish-Walker Phelps-2nd. Beef Division: Low Calorie-Gabrielle Gobert-Blue Ribbon, One Dish Meal-Allie Doise-Blue Ribbon and Quick and Easy-Canaan Stevens-Blue Ribbon. Rice Division: Main Dish-Ne’Kayla Lampkin-Blue Ribbon, Side Dish-Allie Doise-Blue Ribbon and Dessert-Kristina Moore-Blue Ribbon. Sugar Division: Baked Items-Elizabeth Guinn-3rd and Other Desserts-Carlie Primeaux-Blue Ribbon.

The Southwest Area Cookery Contest is conducted by the extension agents and regional staff of the LSU AgCenter from the Southwest Region.
