On March 21, 2009, 4-H’ers from Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes gathered in Port Allen to become certified as camp counselors. The workshop participants now are prepared to assist 4-H agents and younger children at the upcoming 4-H camps. The day consisted of multiple sessions focused on youth development, communication skills, handling difficult situations and team building. Congratulations to all participants! 4-H'ers listen intently as 4-H regional coordinator Renee Castro teaches them about developmental stages of children. Members act out a skit of a situation when something bad happened to them. They then learned how to handle the situation and discussed different approaches that could have been taken to prevent these situations. To reinforce team building, 4-H'ers worked together using materials they were given to build the highest tower possible.
