Wednesday, May 21, 2008 was a fun-filled educational day for East Carroll Parish 4-H members, leaders and citizens of the parish. A 4-H Healthy Lifestyles Field Day/Centennial Celebration was held at the Lakeside Walking Trail behind East Carroll Parish Hospital in Lake Providence. Participants paid a minimal fee to walk one mile from which the proceeds were donated to the 4-H Foundation in honor of 4-H's 100th Birthday.

There were a number of exhibits for the participants to visit where they received information on height, weight and body mass index and the benefits of water; they learned how to be more active by having fun doing line dances and playing with pool noodles; they learned why it's better not to drink soft drinks; and there were several other informational/educational exhibits about living healthy.

Cold water was available during the event and a hamburger lunch with cold juice was served. After lunch everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a piece of birthday cake.

Numerous businesses and individuals donated money or food items to help with the event and much appreciation is extended to each of them.
