The following article is a description of the LSU AgCenter's 4-H program in Concordia Parish. It gives brief details about activities and events held within the parish and around the state.

Concordia 4-H'ers attended 4-H Summer Camp at the LSU AgCenter's Grant Walker 4-H Educationl Center in Pollock, La., June 29-July 3rd.

The Concordia Parish 4-H University delegation recently returned from Baton Rouge after competing for state honors on the LSU campus. Concordia 4-H had 40 youth from the parish participate in this year's event. Concordia led the Central Region with the most 4-H'ers attending and brought home the largest number of top winners. Twenty one Concordia 4-H youth received blue ribbons in their individual/team competitions.

Concordia Parish brings awards home from the Area Cookery Contest hosted in Alexandria. Congratulations to participating 4-Hers!

ATTENTION 4-H'ERS! Summer is just around the corner and it is time to start preparing for 2009 4-H Summer Camp! The completed form and a $50 deposit are due in the Concordia Parish 4-H Office by April 15 to reserve your spot. Our parish will be camping from June 29 through July 3. SO SIGN UP NOW FOR AN EXCITING CAMPING EXPERIENCE!

Mmmmmm! Delicious, Louisiana-grown strawberries for $14 a flat. Turn in orders by March 23, and they will be delivered on March 25. Call the 4-H Office to place your orders today!

NOW is the time to start signing up to attend 4-H University. 4-H U is open to all 4-H'ers who turned 13 before January 1, 2009. State 4-H University will be held on the LSU Campus-June 23-26, 2009. Contact the 4-H Office for information, your eligibility, and cost. Your fees will need to be paid by May 22, 2009. SIGN UP TODAY!

Concordia parish has cooked their way into the new year. 4-Hers through out the parish have been busy preparing dishes for the 2009 Ground Beef, Seafood and Poultry Cookery Contest. Our office would like to THANK everyone involved in making this cookery possible!

ATTENTION GRADUATING SENIORS! There are several scholarships offered through the State 4-H Program. All scholarships MUST be typed. All 4-H'ers completing an application will be considered for the Scott Foundation Scholarship which is presented to the top applicant in Concordia Parish. All completed applications must be turned in to the Concordia 4-H Office by March 2, 2009.
