Character Corner Citizenship Do your share to make your school and community better. Cooperate. Stay informed. Vote. Be a good neighbor and classmate. Obey laws and rules. Respect authority. Protect the environment. Fairness Play by the rules. Take turns and share. Be open-minded; listen to others. Don't take advantage of others. Don't blame others carelessly.
Keep Your Family's Food Safe Do you like to help out in the kitchen? Do you enjoy making your own afternoon snack? If so, you need to know how important it is to keep your family's food safe to eat. There are four simple steps that everyone in your family should follow for food safety. Clean: Wash hands, counters and your table often and carefully. Separate: Keep raw and cooked food separate. Chill: Refrigerate food right away. Don't leave it out at room temperature for more than two hours. Cook: Cook food to a safe, proper temperature. Using a food thermometer is the only way to tell for sure whether the food has been heated to a high enough temperature to kill bacteria.
