Fashion, Food and Fitness Members of the 4-H Fashion, Food and Fitness Club were invited to participate in a Freeze Modeling workshop on Monday, January 12. During the workshop, 4-H'ers were taught the basic techniques for freeze modeling and put these techniques into practice as they modeled in preparation for the Ag Expo. During the Ag Expo, the workshop participants spent one hour freeze modeling for the public who visited the event. Our next Fashion, Food and Fitness Club meeting will be Wednesday, February 18, at Central Elementary from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Junior Leader Club Members of the Junior Leader Club have been doing a great job presenting safety lessons to youth in after-school settings. The high school group has been presenting "Internet Safety" to students in grades 4 - 6 and the junior high group has been presenting "Food Safety" to students in grades 1 - 3. Our next Junior Leader meeting will be Monday, February 23, at Johnny's Pizza. The junior high team will present "Food Safety" to after-school students at Columbia Elementary on Wednesday, February 25.
4-H Challenge Camp Attention all 7th and 8th grade 4-H'ers! You are invited to attend this year's Challenge Camp held March 26 - 28 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock. Thirteen parishes will be coming together to participate in numerous fun and challenging experiences. The cost of Challeng Camp is $50 which includes lodging, meals and a t-shirt. The deadline for signing up is Monday, March 9th. Space is limited so hurry to reserve your spot!
Communications and Career Day The 4-H Communications and Career Day will take place Monday, February 23 at Central Elementary. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. 4-H'ers can enter the Personal Development, Demonstration and / or Ambassador Talk Contests. Please call the 4-H office at 649-2663 by February 19 to pre-register for the event.
Beef Poster Contest Entries for the 4-H Beef Poster contest are due Friday, February 27. You may submit these to your 4-H leader or the 4-H office. Rules and regulations for both contests may be obtained from the contest section of this website, your 4-H leader or the 4-H office.

Good Nutrition Tip We need fats to stay healthy, but some fats are better for you than others. For example, transfats are the worst kind of fat. They are found in cakes and cookies that you buy at the store or frosting that comes in a can. You should try to avoid these "transfats". You can do so by making sure you read the Nutrition Facts Label.
