Pet Show This year's 4-H Pet Show was a big success with 38 4-H'ers entering 40 pets in the contest. 4-H'ers gathered at the CPHS tennis courts where they presented their pets to local judges who interviewed the 4-H'ers about their pets. Fashion, Food and Fitness Club The Fashion, Food and Fitness Club held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 18. 4-H'ers learned about different clothing construction techniques and tools from extension agent Dr. Cynthia Pilcher. 4-H'er Harmony Bingham gave a presentation on clothing styles from the 1970's.
The Caldwell Parish Relay for Life will take place on Friday, May 8. All members of the Fashion, Food and Fitness Club are asked to join the 4-H FFF Relay for Life Team. You have until Friday, April 3 to join the team. There will be a RFL meeting for all team members on Monday, April 20.
We will take a field trip to the Pecanland Mall to learn about being smart consumers on Thursday, April 16. You must call the 4-H office by Tuesday, April 14 to sign up for the trip. The cost is $10 for transportation.
FFF members are invited to take part in a Fitness Walk with 4-H'ers from Ouachita and Franklin parishes. The walk will take place Friday, May 22 at 9:30 a.m. in West Monroe.
Junior Leader Club The 4-H Junior Leader Club completed their "Keeping Our Kids Safe" project last month. Students in after school programs at Columbia, Central and Grayson elementary schools had the opportunity to take part in internet and food safety lessons that were designed and presented by 4-H Junior Leaders.
All 4-H Junior Leaders are asked to provide leadership in the following events: Forestry Awareness Day, Farm Safety Day, Fishing Clinic, Relay for Life and 4-H Camp. Please call Mrs. Sandra at 649-2663 to specify the event(s) you would like to assist.
4-Star Applications are due Wednesday, April 22. Please submit these to your 4-H leader or the 4-H office by this date.
Fishing Clinic The 4-H Fishing Clinic will be held Saturday, April 25. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the contest will take place at 9:00 a.m. Please call the 4-H office by Thursday, April 23 to pre-register for the event. Guidelines for the Fishing Clinic may be obtained from your 4-H leader, the 4-H office or the 4-H website.
4-H Camp Sign up for 4-H Camp is underway. A $50 deposit is due to the 4-H office by April 29.
4-H Day at the Capitol 4-H Day at the Capitol will be held Wednesday, June 3. We will travel by bus to Baton Rouge for a tour of the capitol and to visit with our legislators. We will then go to the Mall of Louisiana for lunch and shopping. The cost of the trip is $10. You must sign up and pay your $10 fee by Friday, May 1.
4-H University All 4-H'ers 13 years and older are invited to attend 4-H University. 4-H U will be held June 23-26 in Baton Rouge on the LSU Campus. 4-H'ers have the opportunity to compete in a contest, attend Clover College or be a part of the 4-H production team. The cost of the trip is $100 which includes lodging at the Lod Cook hotel, 4-H U fees, a t-shirt and breakfast. A $25 deposit is due to the 4-H office by Friday, May 15. The remaining $75 is due by Friday, June 12.
Character Corner: Respect and Caring Respect consists of four components - courtesy, the Golden Rule, tolerance and acceptance and nonviolence. Caring consists of two components - concern for others and charity. Kindness, compassion, understanding and helping are ways to be caring.

The North Louisiana Horse Camp will be held April 16 and 17 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe. Fees are due by April 1.
The Northeast District Horse Show will be held July 1 and 2 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe. Possession date is April 1. Entries are due by June 5.
