Beef Poster Contest There were 24 entries in this year's Beef Poster Contest. The winners are as follows: Division I 1st Nealy McCoy 2nd Bryan Lamb 3rd Haley Ellerbe Division II 1st Shelbi Cassels 2nd Leah Dale 3rd Thomas Nagler Division III 1st Korey Burns Good luck to the first place winners. Their posters will be sent to Baton Rouge to compete in the state Beef Poster Contest.
Fashion, Food and Fitness Club The Fashion, Food and Fitness Club held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 12. Krista Weems gave a presentation on hair care and hair styles. The 4-H'ers also learned some basic sewing techniques. The next Fashion, Food and Fitness club meeting will be held Wednesday, April 16.
4-H Pet Show Due to bad weather the 4-H Pet Show was cancelled on March 18 and has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 8.
Fishing Clinic The 4-H Fishing Clinic will be held Saturday, April 19. Please call the 4-H office at 649-2663 by Wednesday, April 16 to register for this event.
4-H Camp Reminder Your $50 deposit for camp is due by Friday, April 25.
4-H Day at the Capital 4-H Day at the Capital will be held Thursday, June 5. We will travel by bus to Baton Rouge where we will tour the state capital, visit with our legislators and then go to the Mall of Louisiana to eat and shop. The cost of the trip is $10 for transportation. The deadline to sign up for the trip is Friday, April 25.
4-H University 4-H University will be held June 17-20 in Baton Rouge on the LSU campus. 4-H'ers have the opportunity to compete in a contest, attend Clover College or be a part of the 4-H U production team. The cost of the trip is $100 which includes lodging at the Lod Cook Hotel, 4-H U fees, a t-shirt and breakfast. A $25 deposit is due to the 4-H office by Friday, May 16. The remainining $75 is due by Friday, June 6.
4-H / LSU Football Game The 4-H / LSU Football Game will be September 13 against North Texas State University in Tiger Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available to 4-H'ers and their families at $25 each. If you would like to purchase tickets for this game, the money must be brought to the 4-H office by Friday, May 30.
4-Star 4-Star applications are due Thursday, April 24. You can obtain the applications from the 4-H leader at your school or the 4-H office.
Character Corner This month's pillar of character is CARING. We can show other people that we care by: being kind expressing gratitude forgiving others helping people in need being compassionate
Leadership We all have leadership skills and every contribution we make does make a difference in the lives of others.
4-H Hall of Fame Congratulations to Patricia Russell for being the 4-H Hall of Fame recipient for Caldwell Parish. Mrs. Russell will be one of 100 inductees for the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame. She has been a 4-H volunteer leader for 21 years and continues to be an active 4-H leader for Kelly elementary school.
