Record Book Contest

4-H Members Record Books
Completed record books may be submitted during the April 4-H Club meetings or to the 4-H office by 4:30 p.m. on March 27, 2009. Books will be judged according to the following guidelines.

4th Grade Record Books
Complete the Discovering 4-H project book.

5th Grade Record Books
Complete chosen project book.

6th Grade Record Books
Complete chosen project book.

Record Books (Grades 7-12)
Complete 7th - 12th grade project book.

4-H Secretary Contest
Who: The secretary of any Caldwell 4-H Club.
What: Records are required to be kept in an official Secretary Record Book.
When: Records are due March 27.
Where: Secretary's books must be turned in to the 4-H office or your 4-H leader.
Winners will be announced during 4-H Awards Night.

Rules:
1. Official Record Book for Secretary of 4-H Clubs must be used. These are available at the 4-H office if you need an extra copy.
2. Records may be in pencil or ink.
3. Minutes of all regular monthly meetings should be included. Use form as directed in official record book and fill in completely.
4. Club of the Year points will be awarded to your club for participation in this contest.

4-H Reporter Contest
Who: The reporter of any Caldwell 4-H Club.
What: Record sheet and scrapbook as required in official 4-H Reporters Handbook.
When: Records are due March 27.
Where: Reporter's books must be turned in to the 4-H office or your 4-H leader for judging.
Winners will be announced during 4-H Awards Night.

Rules:
1. 4-H Reporters Handbook No.1 must be used as a guideline for preparing scrapbook. Pay special attention to pages 11-13. Extra copies are available at the 4-H office.
2. Only published articles should be placed in the scrapbook. They can be from a local newspaper, school or church papers. Arrange by the month they appeared.
3. Everything should have a note telling what part the reporter had in the work.
                   Examples:
Written and submitted / Gave information to the editor
Identified people for the photographer
Arranged for the picture to be taken
Asked editor to send reporter / Took picture and submitted it
