The Calcasieu 4-H Shooting Sports Club is very excited to begin this year's activities. This year's activities will again be held at the Lake Charles Gun Club on Ward Line Road south of Lake Charles. The file at the bottom of the page offers directions to the range. All club days are on Saturday and begin at 8:30 a.m. The following dates are finalized for club days; others during the spring are still to be finalized. They current dates are:

- November 7 – Concealed handgun training for Adults (Tom Threet, DeQuincy Police)
- November 21
- December 12 – 4-H Crying Eagle Invitational Contest
- December 12 – Hunter Ed Field Day, 12:30 p.m., Lake Charles Gun Club

- February 20
- March 20 – Calcasieu Parish contest
- April 10 – Practice for regionals
- April 10 – Hunter Ed Field Day, 12:30 p.m., Lake Charles Gun Club
- April 23-25 – Southern Regional Competition, Lake Charles Gun CLub and Burton Coliseum
- May 7-9 – State Shooting Sports Competition, Shreveport Gun Club, Shreveport, and Long Rnage Alley, Grand Cane
- May TBA – Burgers and Bulls-Eyes Fundraiser
4-H'ers must remember to bring eye and ear protection to the range. A new rule this year states that all shooting sports participants 10 years old and older must be "hunter ed certified" prior to participating in the project. Please check out the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Web site for details and schedules on taking the hunter ed course.
