Physical activity is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. It can also be lots of fun to be active. Have fun together as a family by getting your family to join you in physical activity. Go for a walk, play catch, or jump rope. You can track your physical activity and earn awards for an active lifestyle at www.presidentschallenge.org. Adults need at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week, while children need 60 minutes everyday or most days. You can even make your next birthday party an opportunity to be active by having backyard Olympics or relay races. You could even consider having a bowling, swimming, or skating party. There is no need to buy fancy equipment to start being active. You can use canned foods as weights or use stairs in place of a stair machine. Limit TV watching and computer time and get moving!
