2010 Louisiana Rice Research Verification Program

Rice Program
LSU AgCenter Specialist and rice producer checking crop as part of the of the Rice Verification Program.

The Louisiana Rice Research Verification Program  (LRRVP) began in 1997 and a producer from Avoyelles Parish has participated since 1998.

The Louisiana Rice Research Verification Program is a venue to evaluate in a producers field, practical research-based recommendations in such areas but not limited to: fertilization, weed control, disease control, insect control and, to a limited degree, water management.

The program involves weekly visits by the LSU AgCenter Rice Specialist Dr Johnny Saichuck and the local parish county agent.

The fields were evaluated from planting to harvest and all production practices and expenses are recorded in order to conduct economic analysis.

For the last two years Stewart Lyles has volunteered his time and a field for the program. In the past it has been conducted with Johnny Coco, Matthew Zaunbrecher, Phillip LaMartiniere, and Robert Thevis.
