Avoyelles Parish will be celebrating the centennial of 4-H with a yearlong series of events. The kick off will be in January with a canning contest in conjunction with the annual livestock show. 4-H did begin in Avoyelles parish in 1908 and was originally known as the Corn Club. The members and the original club were in Moreauville, LA. Avoyelles parish has enjoyed a rich history of agriculture, family ties, and customs.
