4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning Leadership, Citizenship and Life Skills with the skilled help of volunteer leaders and the LSU Agcenter. Become a 4-H member or a volunteer leader today! Visit here for contact information on your local 4-H programs in Ascension Parish! We have provided a list of all our 4-H Clubs in Ascension Parish including a homeschool club.

4-H in Ascension Parish
4-H in Ascension Parish is a part of a local, state, national and international youth program. It is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States. Our parish has twenty-seven organized clubs. This includes a Home School Club. We also have an active Junior Leader Club as well as a Horse Club.

4-H Project Guidebook

Selecting a 4-H project is an important first step when becoming a club member. Your project should reflect your interests and goals. There are many 4-H projects to choose from. Please print a copy and choose the project you want. If you have difficulty selecting your project interest, complete the Pick-A-Project activity at the back.

As Kate Frederic, 17, a member of Holy Rosary Church, St. Amant, was announced as the youth individual division winner at the Volunteer Ascension’s Volunteer of the Year Award Banquet in May, the contest judges commented, “Wow, you do all that?”

4-H University
What is 4-H University? It is when 4-Hers get the opportunity to experience college life by staying on LSU’s campus in the dorms, participating in competitions or non competitive events, meeting thousands of 4-Hers from around the state, etc.
Ascension Parish 4-H Horse Club
The Horse Club is open to any 4-Her in Ascension Parish and currently offers competitive horse shows at the district and state levels.
Ascension Jr. 4-H Livestock Association
The AJLA is for 4-H members, parents and volunteers interested in livestock. They help run the Ascension Parish 4-H Livestock Show and other functions throughout the year.
Honey Bee Essay
This contest gives 4-H members a chance to compete on a state and national level. Participants will write an essay on a given topic related to honey bees.
Outdoor Skills
The Ascension Parish Outdoor Skills and Shooting Sports club meets throughout the year to work on marksmanship, wildlife, hunting and conservation projects.
