November 12, 2008 Commercial Organic Vegetable Production Workshop

The main presenter will be Paul Wiediger, co-owner of Au Naturel Farm in Kentucky, a certified organic farm for over 35 years. Mr. Wiediger is also an expert on the use of high tunnels or hoop houses and has published “Walking to Spring – Using High Tunnels to Grow Produce 52 Weeks a Year”. The workshop will be held at the Burden Conference Center in Baton Rouge from 9am - 4pm, lunch and materials included. November 13, 2008 Biofuel Workshop and Tour ~Using Local Food and Fuel Resources ~

The biofuels workshop on Thursday will be held the day after the Commercial Organic Vegetable Workshop at the Burden Center in Baton Rouge. The Louisiana SARE PDP program will cover the hotel expenses for Wednesday night for those county agents that would like to attend both events. The hotel rate limit it $99 for Baton Rouge. Please note that advance registration is required for both events. Pre-register by emailing eneustrom@agcenter.lsu.edu or calling 225-578-1037. If you have any questions about the reimbursement for hotel, please call Owusu Bandele at the Southern AgCenter at 225-284-0063.

Tour registration begins at 7:45 am at the Southern Univeristy AgCenter, on B.A. Little Drive, Baton Rouge, LA. Tour leaves at 8:30am SHARP! Tour stops include:

2) Port Hudson Organics - On-Farm Biofuel, Organic Vegetables

3) SU AgCenter: Red Stick Farmers Market Update / SU Small Farm and Gardening Initiatives
