The Coastal Plants Breeding Program at Louisiana State University Agricultural Center (LSU AgCenter; Baton Rouge campus) is the only plant breeding program in the nation developing improved varieties of native coastal plants to be used in coastal restoration and management projects.
Graduate research assistantships (M.S. and Ph.D.) are available within the Coastal Plants Breeding Program. Research areas are diverse and include, but are not limited to, wetland ecology, coastal plant production, applied plant breeding and molecular plant breeding.
Graduate research assistants will travel to remote marsh locations and beaches to conduct research and see first hand the importance of coastal restoration in Louisiana. Graduate research assistants will also have the opportunity to make a difference by actively taking part in coastal restoration and management activities. Students will also have the opportunity to be trained in state-of-the-art laboratory techniques.
Interested candidates should possess a B.S. or M.S. in agronomy, plant science, plant breeding, biological sciences or a related field.
