Where to go for help

In supporting the ever-changing and increasing technology needs of the LSU AgCenter, Information Technology (IT) strives to align itself with the goals of the organization while also playing a leadership and consulting role. A constant challenge that must be acknowledged and addressed on a regular basis is managing day to day issues while focusing on strategic goals. A strategic plan that is updated annually and is used for annual budgeting and planning is an appropriate tool to use to address this need.

As the use of the Internet has exploded among our constituents as well as staff, the AgCenter must continue to look for ways to utilize this most efficient means of information delivery. The Internet offers a highly cost effective means of information delivery. The continual fine-tuning of our Web-based delivery services remains an important part of addressing client needs and capturing new clientele. IT will seek to enhance existing services and create new Web-based services to better serve clientele and to make faculty participation in Web-based delivery easier and more accessible.

With emphasis being placed on electronic delivery of information, staff throughout the AgCenter must be skilled in the use of their applications and systems. The effective use of this technology enhances the productivity of the individuals and allows them to accomplish an ever-increasing scope of work. Additionally, understanding more than the basics with these systems can result in delivery of content that is more far reaching and has a higher impact than traditional methods. A key focus of IT will be to identify and implement training options that can be utilized throughout the AgCenter. This will include instructor led training, “training on demand” via streaming video as well as computer based training.
