Human Ecology is currently involved in a number of grants and projects across its disciplines:
Be Child Care Aware Be Child Care Aware is a joint project of the LSU AgCenter and Louisiana Department of Social Services, Office of Family Support. This project is a comprehensive public awareness campaign designed to educate Louisiana families and child care providers about the importance of quality child care for the development of young children. Delta NIRI
EatSmart EatSmart is a Web-based nutrition curriculum developed by a team of nutrition specialists from the LSU AgCenter. The curriculum is organized into six sections: Basic Nutrition, The Nutrients, Stretching Your Food Dollars, Nutrition & Chronic Disease, Nutrition & the Life Cycle and Food Safety. National EDEN Homeland Security Initiative The Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) links Extension educators from across the United States and various disciplines, enabling them to use and share resources to reduce the impact of disasters. The EDEN Web site receives support from the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture under CSREES/USDA Agreements No. 2002-30001-12100, CFDA #10.304 and 2004-37620-14644. EFNEP LSU AgCenter Extension's Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a national outreach program that is more than 30 years old. The mission of EFNEP is to empower limited-income families with young children to make informed decisions about food purchasing, food safety and meal management. Web site link
FNP The Family Nutrition Program is an integral part of the LSU AgCenter Extension Service Family & Consumer Sciences program. FNP program assistants teach basic nutrition, food safety, meal management, thrifty shopping and food resource management to food stamp recipients. Web site link
Louisiana House A research-based SHOWCASE OF SOLUTIONS and educational outreach program of the LSU AgCenter and many partners with a vision of more comfort, quality, durability, value and convenience and better health with less energy, water, pollution, waste and damage from natural hazards. Parents Preparing for Success
Smart Bodies Smart Bodies is an interactive educational program designed to help prevent childhood obesity. A joint initiative of the LSU AgCenter and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Smart Bodies integrates classroom activities with hands-on learning to teach children how to build strong bodies and develop active minds.
