Facilities

To maintain world recognition in innovative sugar research technology, Audubon Sugar Institute continuously strives to improve its analytical capability with state-of-the-art equipment. Students, faculty and those sharing the resources, especially the industry, will benefit from the improvements.

Access to modern facilities is appealing to students with an interest in sugar processing research. It is one of the Institute’s main goals to attract, retain and develop a world-class staff to serve the stakeholders. Through its education and training program and the state-of-art facility, students are given the “hands-on” learning opportunity on the latest technology that can be best applied to the Louisiana industry.

Audubon has been able to significantly enhance its research capability in the last three years and provide the tools that allow much of its on-going projects to be conducted in-house. Additional lab instruments were donated by Lyondell Corporation in Saint Charles, Louisiana, two state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation were acquired through grants from the Louisiana Board of Regents, and several pieces of pilot plant equipment were refurbished and recommissioned through a project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
