School of Animal Sciences

The application for Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships serves as the general application for University and College wide scholarships for entering freshmen. High school students should complete the application for Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarship click here by November 15 of their senior year for full scholarship consideration. In addition to University and College wide scholarships, the School of Animal Sciences offers a number of undergraduate scholarships to qualified students majoring in Animal, Dairy and Poultry Sciences. Following is a description and specific requirements for undergraduate scholarships offered through the Animal, Dairy, and Poultry Science Divisions of the School of Animal Sciences.

Animal Science Division

The School of Animal Sciences offers a number of undergraduate scholarships annually to qualified students with concentrations in the Animal Science Division. Minimum requirements, unless otherwise specified, include being a full time student enrolled as an undergraduate in the School of Animal Sciences and having and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Although most scholarships are currently set at $1,000 per academic year ($500/semester) the amount and number of scholarships offered can vary based on the earnings generated from the endowed scholarship accounts. All students that would like to be considered for a scholarship must complete a scholarship application each year. Scholarship applications can be obtained in the main office of the School of Animal Sciences in Room 105 Francioni Hall or by clicking here. Application due date is May 1 for the subsequent academic year.

Landrith and Nelda Reynolds Scholarship

This scholarship is to be awarded annually to a student(s) with a concentration in Animal Science and classified as a sophomore when the scholarship is received. Consideration will be given to participation in activities that develop responsibility and demonstrate leadership and citizenship. This scholarship can not be renewed.

Brenham C. Crothers Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors. This scholarship may be retained for more than one year but will terminate when the recipient receives his/her undergraduate degree.

Charles Looney/Ovagenix Scholarship

The recipient must be a full time student with a concentration in Animal Science and an overall GPA of at least 2.75. Freshman regularly admitted to the University and transfer students, with a college GPA of at least 2.75 are also eligible for this scholarship.

C. J. “Diddy” and Leona LeBlanc Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Preference will be given to a student(s) with an interest in swine production.

H. B. “Cotton” Fairchild Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors. The scholarship may be retained for more than one year but will terminate when the recipient receives his/her undergraduate degree. The recipient must also have demonstrated an interest in animal science.

Basil Doles Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors. The scholarship may be renewed for more than one year but will terminate when the recipient receives his/her undergraduate degree.

Dairy Science Division

The Dairy Science Division of the School of Animal Sciences offers a number of scholarships annually to qualified students with concentrations in Dairy Production Science or Dairy Foods Technology. Minimum requirements, unless otherwise specified, include being a full time student enrolled as an undergraduate in the School of Animal Sciences and having a GPA of 2.5 or higher. All scholarships offered by the Dairy Science Division are currently valued at $2,000 per academic year ($1,000/semester). The amount and number of scholarships offered can vary based on the earnings generated from the principle in the endowed scholarship accounts. All students that would like to be considered for a scholarship in the Dairy Science Division must complete a scholarship application yearly. Scholarship applications can be obtained in Room 111, Dairy Science Building or by clicking here for a new scholarship application. Application due date is May 1 for the subsequent academic year.

Allied Corporation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a freshmen or upperclassman who has declared a concentration in Dairy Foods Technology. Entering freshmen must have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for consideration. This scholarship can be renewed.

B. J. Burch Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior or senior with a concentration in Dairy Production Science. This scholarship can be renewed.


LSU Dairy Alumni Association Scholarship

Eight or more scholarships are awarded annually to freshmen or currently enrolled or transfer upperclassmen that have declared or have a concentration in Dairy Production Science or Dairy Foods Technology. This scholarship can be renewed.

John East Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior with a concentration in Dairy Production Science or Dairy Foods Technology. The scholarship can be renewed.

V. Fred Ledford Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior or senior with a concentration in Dairy Production Science or Dairy Foods Technology. This scholarship can be renewed.

C. A. Lorio Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior or senior with a concentration in Dairy Foods Technology or Dairy Production Science. The scholarship can be renewed.

Truett C. Lewis Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior with a concentration in Dairy Production Science or Dairy Foods Technology. The scholarship can be renewed.

T. E. Patrick Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior or senior with a concentration in Dairy Production Science. The recipient can receive this scholarship more than once.

Jim Overstreet Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship can be awarded to an incoming freshman or a currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior or senior with a concentration in Dairy Foods Technology or Dairy Production Science. Preference will be given to students in the Dairy Foods Technology area. The recipient may receive this award more than once.

George Reymond Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior, or senior with a concentration in Dairy Foods Technology or Dairy Production Science. The scholarship can be renewed.

R. Gene Smith Scholarship

One or more scholarships are awarded annually to an incoming freshman or currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior, or senior with a declared concentration in Dairy Foods Technology. This scholarship may be renewed.

Professor Charles Henry Staples Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman or currently enrolled or transfer sophomore, junior, or senior with a declared concentration in Dairy Production Science. Preference will be given to student who has shown an interest in dairy cattle judging or has been a member of the Dairy Cattle Judging Team. The scholarship can be renewed.

Morgan W. Walker Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior with a declared concentration in Dairy Production Science or Dairy Foods Technology. This scholarship may be renewed.
