| | For those who don't know, around 40,000 students come through the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum each year for educational programs. The museum is an asset for Shreveport, Louisiana, and is becoming a wonderful community center. Members of the Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners help plant and maintain the gardens surrounding the museum.
Regular workdays are the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month with work starting at 8:30 a.m.
Workers are always needed to help in the gardens. If anyone is interested in learning about native plants used by Native Americans, medicinal/herb gardens, organic, roses or colonial gardens. . . this is your place!
The week of July 6 starts week 11 of a Three Sisters Garden in the Native American Garden. Squash has been gathered from the garden, and heirloom dent corn and beans will be ready for harvest soon.
The Medicinal/Herb Garden will be totally renovated in the fall -- a wonderful learning opportunity!
Folks at the museum love to share information, seeds, plants and knowledge and welcome anyone interested.
