La-Terre Master Gardener Participates in Fun Day
On Saturday, November 11, 2006, La-Terre Master Gardener Donna Bucci participated in the St. Mary Parish 4-H Fun Day held at Lagrange Elementary School in Franklin.
Donna did a demonstration on Planting a Seed in which 90 elementary students participated. Donna and Jayda (a Junior Leader in 4-H) assisted students in planting a bean in a clear plastic cup using cotton as the growing medium. Once the beans sprout, the students will be able to see the plant parts through the sides of the cup.
After planting their seeds, the students were asked several questions. Once answered and discussed, they took their "new plant" home.
