Smart Bodies

Smart Bodies is a comprehensive nutrition education and physical activity 4-H school enrichment program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. Smart Bodies is a National 4-H Program of Distinction for Healthy Living. Smart Bodies is a public/private partnership between the state’s largest university system and charitable subsidiary of the state's largest health insurer. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation and the LSU AgCenter have joined forces since 2005 to improve the health of children and their families throughout the state.

Smart Bodies is an innovative three-part program of nutrition and physical activities that are integrated into core curriculum academics to prevent children from becoming overweight or obese. This program consists of three primary components:

  • Louisiana Body Walk
  • The OrganWise Guys
  • 2Step in the Classroom Physical Activity Program
