What's Your Flood Risk?

Click on the link below for a broad-brush view of flood risk, based on the National Flood Insurance rating maps.
At this site, you can enter the address of the property, determine weather your flood risk is "low to moderate" or "high". Information is available, also, on estimating flood insurance premiums for structures and contents.

The LSU AgCenter is developing on-line maps of flood and wind risk in Louisiana; these maps can be used to find the flood zone and basic wind speed (for meeting building codes) for individual sites. Where the flood maps have not been brought into the LSU AgCenter mapping system, links are provided to the FEMA Map Service Center. Maps viewed in the LSU AgCenter mapping portal also show ground elevation at the site. Ground elevation is provided by the U.S. Geological Survey, determined by using LIDAR data.
