The Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council Web site, which was launched July 25, 2007, is a collection of information about the Louisiana Uniform Construction Code, code enforcement and council efforts to assist communities with implementing the state-adopted codes.
Information on the site is organized under six headings:
- Legislation and Rules
- Registration Information
- Certification and Testing
- Wind Speed
- Grants and Funding
- Professional Links
The Legislation and Rules channel provides information about Act 12, UCCC Rules (Title 55 Part VI), the Section 505 Rule, as well as the Section 703 Emergency Rule (Amendment to UCCC Rule 703).
In the Registration Information channel, users will find a list of Registered Third Party Providers. A list of Registered Building Code Enforcement Officers will be added in this section. Visit this section to obtain forms such as the "Building Code Enformcement Officer Registration Form" and the "Certified Third Party Provider Registration Form."
The Certification and Testing channel contains information about certifications accepted by the La. State Uniform Construction Code Council for the registration of Building Code Enforcement Officers and Third Party Providers.
The Wind Speed channel provides listings by parish of the regulatory wind speed associated with each Zip+four area in the state.
The code council is making funds available to local governments to help them start up their code offices; information and application procedures for these funds can be found in the Grants and Funding channel. Two funding sources are open for application as the Web site is launched: FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and state aid to local governments.
Curt McCarty, council administrator, said the site was "developed to help and assist all parties interested in the status of construction codes in the State of Louisiana."
