Table 2 shows the contribution of each expense item to total expenses. While there is some variability in the data, a general breakdown of expenses for most abatement districts could be viewed as 40 percent to salaries and benefits, 28 percent to chemicals, 10 percent to capital and 22 percent to other operating expenses.
