Come Help Save the Wood Ducks in St. Bernard Parish.
On November 24, 2008, Gary Decossas and St. Bernard Parish 4-H Junior Leadership Club will go to St. Bernard State Park to help put up wood duck boxes. Wood ducks are very special ducks in that they live in rotted-out tree cavities. Since hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the St. Bernard Parish State Park tree population has been devastated. Many of the trees that wood ducks used to inhabit are all gone. In order to help provide a safe habitat for the wood ducks to live and reproduce, the 4-H Junior Leader Club has built some wood duck boxes.
