Profitable soybeans topic of association meeting

News Release Distributed 1/4/08

Soybean producers and agribusiness personnel will gather on Jan. 17 near Alexandria to discuss the latest developments in technology for growing soybeans profitably.

The annual meeting of the Louisiana Soybean Association will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the C. DeWitt Livestock Facility at the LSU AgCenter Dean Lee Research south of Alexandria.

LSU AgCenter professionals will discuss recommended soybean varieties, research discoveries, weed control, disease control, management techniques, soil fertility and fungicide applications.

In a business session, members will discuss the soybean situation, legislative issues, membership and other association business.

This state meeting provides an opportunity for producers to become members of the association and have a voice in directing soybean issues, according to LSU AgCenter soybean and grain expert Dr. David Lanclos.

The C. DeWitt Livestock Facility is located on the east side of U.S. Hwy. 71 south of the LSU Alexandria campus.

For a program or more information on the meeting contact Lanclos at (318) 473-6530 or dlanclos@agcenter.lsu.edu .
