2012 Soybean Variety Performance Trials

The Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station is now accepting applications for the 2012 Soybean Variety Performance Trial. Please write the name of each entry as you would like it to be printed in reporting media, including spaces and capitalization. See form below.  Deadlines for entries: Entry form: Feb. 15, 2012; Seed: March 15, 2012

Entry fee: $800

Tests and Locations:
Maturity Groups 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be accepted and tested as follows: a) MG 3 and early 4 (3.x to 4.4), b) MG late 4 (4.5 to 4.9) and c) MG 5 and above (5.0 to 6.x). Weed control will be managed using a conventional herbicide program, so varieties containing different herbicide-resistance traits can be tested together. The trials will be conducted at six locations representing the major soybean-growing regions in Louisiana: (1) Dean Lee Research Station, Alexandria; (2) Red River Research Station, Bossier City; (3) Northeast Research Station, St. Joseph; (4) Macon Ridge Branch Station, Winnsboro; (5) Rice Research Station, Crowley, and (6) Iberia Research Station, Jeanerette (MG3, early 4 and late 4 only).

Experimental Design and Data Collection:
A randomized complete block design will be used at each location with four replications. Planting date, seeding rate, row configuration and spacing, soil type, maturity date, plant height, lodging, grain moisture and grain yield data will be collected at each location.

Seed Requirements:
Twenty-five (25) pounds of high quality seed are needed to enter a variety in the trial. Please use the standard fungicide/pesticide treatment that will be used on the marketed seed.

Billing Information:
You will be billed after all tests have been planted and satisfactory stands exist at each location. Payment of fees will be due 14 days after you have received a statement. Please do not send a check with the seed.
