Eclipta syn. Yerba de Tago (Eclipta prostrata)

Eclipta in rice
For many years, Eclipta (Eclipta prostrata) was not a problem in rice. As cultural practices and herbicide programs have changed, so has the weed spectrum; it now includes Eclipta more often.

Eclipta flower
Eclipta is a member of the Sunflower family, Asteraceae. Its flowers are numerous in a tight head.

pubescence on stem of Eclipta
The pubescence (hairs) on the stem of Eclipta is antrose, meanining they point from the bottom toward the top which explains why the stem feels rougher when rubbed from the top down than when rubbed from the botton upward.
