Update on June 11, 2009
All treatments went out according to plans. RWW cores were taken on June 10, 2009 -- 4 weeks after establishment of permanent flood. The data are presented in the cooresponding graph. RWW core data is an average of 10 cores/field with the exception of the Karate pre-flood treatment, which is an average of 9 cores. It is estimated that for each RWW larva/core, there is a .5-1.5% yield loss.
All of the insecticides provided some level of control. Control ranged from 71 to 97%. The untreated check field had an average of 12.8 RWW larvae per core. Dermacor X-100 seed treatment provided the best control with 0.4 RWW larvae per core. Karate Z pre-flood followed by Mustang 1.5ec on fertilizer post-flood-treated field had 0.8 RWW larvae per core. The field treated with Mustang 1.5 ec post-flood had an average of 0.9 RWW larvae per core. The Karate Z pre-flood-treated field had an average of 1.9 RWW larvae per core, while Trebon had an average of 3.7 RWW larvae per core. We will now compare these results to the other 5 locations in this test.
Yield data will be reported when they are gathered at the end of the season.
