Insects that can cause blueberry plant leaves to dry are leafhoppers and blueberry tip borers. Click on the links below to learn how to detect these insects, as well as how to manage them.
Leafhoppers are small, mobile insects often found on the stems and undersides of leaves on blueberry plants. Certain leafhopper species transmit blueberry stunt mycoplasma, a disease that can threaten blueberry production.
Blueberry tip borers overwinter as larvae in hollow blueberry canes where they feed in the summer. They feed internally on stems, and it is this internal feeding that causes stems to wilt and leaves to dry from the tips.
