Nonetheless, the number of baitfish producers and the farm-gate value of the crop increased in Louisiana during 2004, primarily in coastal areas where Extension efforts have allowed producers to adopt improved technology for holding and maintaining live product. Demand and prices may soften throughout 2005, depending on the economy.
