Researchers Looking at Effects of Panicle Rice Mite

Description:
(TV News-11/05/07) The panicle rice mite was first identified in Louisiana in the 1960s. But the tiny pest was not seen again in the state until this year. It was discovered on the LSU AgCenter Rice Research Station this summer, then in a field in Vermilion Parish. The mite damages the plant by feeding on the leaf tissue and the developing grain.
